Gove's Surgery

Tuesday 4th August.

This afternoon I was invited - as an informal Parish, Borough and County representative - to join Michael Gove MP at one of his monthly 'surgeries'. One of Michael's many initiatives to create a workable interface between elector and elected, the surgery idea has proven to be most successful and enables constituents to meet face to face with the MP in order to discuss problems or other matters deemed to be appropriate, whether they be national or local issues.
Issues tabled this month included:

  • Roads - the poor state of the Surrey surfacing and the works programme.
  • The status of the Green Belt and the threat of housing allocation sites to it.
  • Town & Country Planning matters and the workings of enforcement action.
All of which either Michael and I were able to address, explain or facilitate further dialogue and investigation into.
