Kennel Lane Accidents

Friday 17th February

Late in 2010 I received an email from the secretary of the Windlesham Club, Reg Rapley, about some parking issues. During the evenings, it appeared that parking of patrons on the Kennel Lane bend was causing not only access issues, but also an accident hazard.

Reg and I met to discuss the issue and I was clear to point out that there would regrettably no quick fix. We would have to subject ourselves to the enormous behemouth that is 'Parking & Yellow Lines provision'.

The reason for this is to do with presentation and evaluation of the case, statutory notices and of course, budget! However, I am absolutely delighted to be able to report that the effort has paid off and at last night's Local Area Committee meeting I voted in favour of putting the lines in place. They should be in this spring's work programme.

You see, these things do happen - they just take an inordinate amount of time.
