St Georges Day

Friday 23rd April.

St Georges Day - While the nation toys with the idea of celebrating the National Day in a manner similar to the Irish and St Pats, I managed to catch up with the Mayor during lunch while we debriefed about the previous weekend's 'Mayor's Charity Ball'.
Alas it was only brief.
Friday ended up being a most busy day and started with dropping babies at nursery school, while finishing with a meeting with Michael Gove MP at the existing old pavilion at Windlesham Field of Remembrance.

Essentially, the pavilion is a longstanding local project - not directly funded by any local government authority - which is in dire need of replacement. Long running planning battles have ensued and it is now down to a fund-raising effort so that the works may be commenced.

Regrettably, my assistance is fairly limited but I did suggest to the trustees that there were some funds available from local budgets. Similarly, both Michael and I alerted the ladies that there are national sources of sports funding available, which should certainly assist this most worthwhile and long awaited project move to the construction phase.
