SureStart and HRH, The Countess of Wessex

Thursday 15th October

If I had any hair, I'd have combed it this morning as I attended the formal opening of the County Council's 'SureStart' Children's Centre at Bagshot Infant School, opened by HRH The Countess of Wessex and with Lady Toulson, High Sherriff of Surrey; Geoff Marlow, Chairman of Surrey County Council & Cllr Craig Fennell, Mayor of Surrey Heath Borough Council in attendance.

Seemingly, my wife has already had the benefit of using the centre which centralises child and family health & support services and provides a first stop centre for new parents. My wife found it a particularly useful way of meeting people in the same position as she - namely new mums having just given birth. To facilitate integration at an early stage, the school had been chosen to 'host' the centre and I was very impressed by both the facilities at the SureStart centre and the new classrooms at the infant school; also in fact by the superb way that the children at the school later composed themselves in the company of the princess.

And yes. Her Royal Highness was extremely smart, most charming and every bit the princess.
